The Food Surgery
This is a concept that we have developed which can work as a stand-alone offer, or in conjunction with cooking demonstrations.
Based on a doctor’s consultancy style set, we offer ‘one-on-one’ sit down consultancies with the public to discuss their specific problems, answer questions and offer practical solutions, help and advice. Each consultancy lasts for a maximum of ten minutes, and can be conducted on an open day surgery basis, with people booking appointments, or being seen on a random ‘drop-in’ basis. In addition, each ‘patient’ will receive a printed ‘prescription’ of a few lines of advice, or recipe idea tailored to their needs – typed up be Richard during the consultancy. These ‘prescription notes’ can be displayed on relevant web sites along with the corresponding problems.
The set is fully portable and quick and easy to erect. The ‘surgery' area itself is in an open fronted trailer with attached gazebo that acts as a waiting room, complete with chairs, flat screen monitors with the Love Food Hate Waste message on a loop, as well as an array of food magazines and food reference books. The surgery itself consists of a desk with chairs, an array of dried herbs, spices and other every-day items displayed in pharmacy-style units. These can be referred to during the consultancy. Behind a surgical screen there is a stainless steel bench with a single hob and cooking utensils for quick cooking demonstrations which last under five minutes. These can show instant practical solutions and recipes. The screened walls display food-related posters offering practical information. Logos and artwork are on boards and banners – boldly displaying The Food Surgery and Love Food Hate Waste messages.
This is a unique concept designed to attract customers in an original and eye-catching way, and is a fantastic opportunity to pass on expert advice which will instantly change peoples habits, and perpetuate the Love Food Hate Waste Message. From a media point of view, it's fun and unique nature - combined with an established media expert chef, make it a very attractive proposition for press, radio and TV coverage.
